Truth or by James Patterson & Howard Roughan | Summary & Analysis
This is a Summary & Analysis of Truth or Die. James Patterson and Howard Roughan’s latest novel, is a fast-paced conspiracy thriller that ranges down the Eastern Seaboard and speaks to what it means to be an American in the world after 9/11. Very much in line with others of Patterson’s collaborations, the novel promises to please long-time readers and to serve well as an introduction to Patterson for those new to his writings. It does enough to keep readerly attention without making too many demands on the reader’s understanding, admirably enough for a recreational read.
Patterson and Roughan’s thriller, depicts the adventures of Trevor Mann as he helps Owen Lewis expose some of the horrific acts undertaken in the name of American national security. They find themselves embroiled in conspiracies not only to introduce new chemical interrogation techniques to the intelligence community, but also to cover up involvement at some of the highest levels of the executive branch of the United States’ government – although not the President – in unauthorized and often fatal human testing. While the conspiracies are uncovered and undone, it is not without consequence, particularly for Mann, who narrates much of the text.
